I am a native of Madeira Island and since an early age dedicated to adventure activities at sea and in the mountains. I have a degree in Fine Arts and Photography from the University of Lisbon, and I am also a certified Mountain Guide.
My passion for photography and travel has led me to explore numerous countries around the world, to experience and photograph new cultures, and to engage in adventure sports and trekking.
These adventures include the numerous incursions to Indonesia, the explorations of New Zealand, the trekkings in Colorado (United States of America), the exploration of Turkey and Kurdistan in the border regions with Iraq and Syria, and the incursions to Morocco and Western Sahara. Other notable trips I have made were to Panama, Costa Rica, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, Japan, Argentina, and the Maldives.
I lived 1 year in Germany where I worked as a teacher of visual arts, art history, multimedia/photography, and 4 years in Australia, a country I explored vigorously, where I developed a research master project in Fine Arts and Photography at the University of New South Wales, and where I was a fellow in an artist residency at the Imaging the Land International Research Institute (ILIRI), at Fowlers Gap Arid Zone Research Station, in the Australian outback.
I have recently returned to “my” Madeira Island, where I work as a mountain guide, and where I founded my own company, Madeira Mountain Tours, through which I offer various trekking activities and observation of fauna and flora.
I am also a trail runner, a fan of ultra races, and forever a nature and wildlife photographer.
