An exciting and very entertaining week spent on the most beautiful mountain rivers in the Pyrenees
The main focus of this Level 1 Canyoning course, is to make this recreational mountain activity known and to equip participants with the initial skills and techniques necessary to perform it safely. Canyoning consists of descending mountain rivers through their beds, rappelling down waterfalls, sliding down natural tabogans and swimming in natural pools of crystal clear water. This course will be held in a small team, which will have its base camp in the Benasque Mountain School situated in the heart of the Aragonese Pyrenees.
In the Benasque valley we find a huge variety of gorges with different technical difficulties and water flows, which, for lovers of this activity, puts us in the perfect environment, consisting of spectacular gorges and beautiful mountain rivers.

This course is open to anyone who would like to start Canyoning so that they can do it on their own. It is also aimed at all lovers of outdoor and adventure activities, with or without technical knowledge, who want to spend a week of great fun on the most beautiful mountain rivers in the Pyrenees.

This is an eminently practical course. The programme is designed with 6 days of training/recreational activity.
The Spanish Mountain School has an indoor rocodrome, perfect for learning the initial techniques of rope manoeuvres:
- Knowledge of the material and equipment used in canyoning.
- Techniques of progression in water and dry canyons.
- Techniques of progression with rope in canyoning.
- Terrain interpretation and route selection.
In addition to knowing how to swim and the physical capacity necessary to perform this activity, this course does not require any other prerequisites.
Anyone with or without technical knowledge can participate.
This course does not apply to this course.
However, please prepare yourself physically so that you are in the necessary physical shape to participate in this activity.
Throughout the course, participants will be continuously evaluated by their instructors (at a ratio of 1 instructor per 6 participants), who will observe their performance in the activities and give feedback. All participants will receive a certificate of participation issued by Elemento Terra.
This course was designed jointly by Elemento Terra and Masesqui. Its direction and supervision will be in charge of Tony Polo, High Mountain Sports Technician (Director of Masesqui), professional with an extensive and exemplary career in this activity sector. The classes will be conducted by Tony Polo, or by instructors from the Masesqui team. The instructors will be in the ratio of one instructor for every 6 participants.

Physical Condition: This course can be undertaken by people with an active and healthy lifestyle. During the course you should be fit enough for the following:
Climate: Most of the time the climate will be mild, mountain climate, with a temperature range between +25º and 8º.
Daily physical activity: During the course up to approximately 6 to 8 hours of daily physical activity.
Walking: up to 5 km per day.
Ground: Uneven ground, rocky, sometimes muddy trails, with the possibility of crossing rivers on foot. Canyoning is literally in the water.
Swimming: It is essential to know how to swim in order to do canyoning.

Yes, there will be mobile phone and internet coverage in most locations from the beginning to the end of the course.

There are no animal species that can attack man. However, in order to guarantee the safety of all participants, as well as that of the respective animals, all nature exploration activities that we carry out on our wildlife expeditions follow strict safety protocols.

During canyoning you will be constantly wet and in a totally aquatic environment, so if you want to photograph or film, you will have to bring equipment suitable for immersion in water.
